Frequently Asked Questions
-
Who are your bookkeepers & accountants?
Our team is made up of experienced professionals based in South Africa, including full-time bookkeepers and accountants with backgrounds in finance, audit, and operations. Every hire is vetted personally by our co-founder Joel a former EY Chartered Accountant who meets each candidate in person and taps into our local networks to find top talent.
-
How do you ensure quality?
We are a fully managed service, not a talent marketplace. Every bookkeeper and accountant is employed by Ever Ledger, not by you. That means we oversee their performance, provide training, and manage day-to-day support. Joel is on the ground in South Africa and personally oversees hiring and quality checks.
-
Are your accountants and bookkeepers paid fairly?
Yes. We pay at the top of the local South African market. This helps us attract and retain motivated, reliable professionals while still saving our clients up to 60 percent compared to hiring in the U.S.
-
How do time zones work?
South Africa is ideal for U.S. companies. Our team work normal business hours in South Africa, which gives you ~5 hours of real time overlap with the U.S. Unlike offshore teams other places who often work overnight shifts starting at 8 pm, our team works during their daytime. That means you get full-day productivity and end-of-day handoffs - without relying on a sleep-deprived night crew.
-
What tools do you work with?
We integrate with the tools you already use - QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, Gusto, Stripe, Bill, Ramp, Brex, and more. Our team adapts to your workflows, not the other way around.
-
Are you GAAP compliant?
Yes. Our team is trained in GAAP standards, and we ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and in line with U.S. accounting principles. We uphold the same standards you’d expect from an in-house team.
